Schneider Launches Level 2 Charger to Bypass Grid Limit Roadblocks
Today, Schneider Electric released the upgraded Charge Pro Level 2 charger, which allows commercial and fleet operators to connect directly to building power systems.
Local grid capacity limits remain the primary roadblock to installing multiple electric vehicle charger systems. Today, Schneider Electric released the upgraded Charge Pro Level 2, a tool that removes that barrier by integrating EV chargers directly into a building’s power systems.
The Charge Pro links hardware with local distribution equipment, giving charger owners real-time control over power draw. The unified platform combines native hardware with cloud management and load balancing to prevent electrical overloads and allow charger and fleet hubs to scale charging capacity without requiring immediate, expensive grid upgrades.

Technical Architecture and Electrical Specifications
The Charge Pro platform offers 48 A and 80 A commercial hardware configurations delivering up to 11.5 kW and 19.2 kW, respectively. Installers configure maximum current draw using an internal derating dial with discrete settings from 10 A up to 80 A to match panel capacity. Hardware options support both standard J1772 connectors and the J3400 NACS with 25-foot heavy-duty cables.
Physical protection relies on an aluminum-back NEMA Type 4 enclosure designed for harsh indoor and outdoor environments. Embedded tri-mode connectivity hardware includes 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi, 10/100 Ethernet, and integrated 4G LTE cellular modems. The submetering hardware meets CTEP and NTEP certification standards, delivering precise revenue-grade energy measurement within a 1% margin of error.
The hardware operates on encrypted OCPP 1.6J protocols, with an over-the-air firmware roadmap extending to OCPP 2.1 and ISO 15118 Plug & Charge support. Built to UL 2594, UL 1998, and FCC Part 15 Class B standards, the assembly features field-replaceable cables that enable enclosure-mounted servicing.
The Charge Pro system is designed to connect directly with broader electrical distribution equipment, such as panelboards, switchgear, and circuit protection systems, which are commonly required for commercial electrical upgrades.

Physical Load Management and Circuit Integration
Linking chargers directly to main facility infrastructure enables active load management and demand balancing. Site operators can regulate power consumption across multiple chargers to avoid exceeding available site capacity or triggering excessive utility demand charges.
The hardware control aligns individual units’ draw with existing circuit breaker ratings and panelboard headroom.
Site operators can use software to regulate aggregate power consumption, enabling multiple charger deployments without triggering capacity overloads. The platform is intended to scale as property owners expand their charging footprint over time.
Commercial Fleet Charging Infrastructure
The Charge Pro Level 2 electric vehicle charger can deliver continuous power output to support high-density commercial fleet and workplace charging demands.
Facility managers can deploy the system in single or dual-port configurations across indoor and outdoor parking facilities. The integrated cloud software connects directly with facility power infrastructure to track real-time energy usage and prevent panel overloads.
Availability and Network Deployment
Deployment is supported through certified installation partners, including infrastructure services provider Qmerit. This coordinated model offers property owners unified procurement, site preparation, and installation support.
