Mean Well Expands Online UPS Portfolio for Critical Needs
Mean Well’s new online uninterruptible power systems deliver 1 to 3 kW of reliable backup power for critical applications.
Mean Well has expanded its uninterruptible power supply (UPS) lineup with its new ES-SU1K and ES-SU3K series. These online UPS systems have been designed to deliver reliable, consistent power protection across a variety of modern industries, including data centers. The models offer 1 kW and 3 kW output capacities and are intended for applications where stable power is essential.
The ES-SU1K and ES-SU3K series UPS units build on Mean Well’s existing ES-SU/TU platform, expanding the available power range and system flexibility. Designed for either rack- or tower-installation, the systems incorporate digital control technology and monitoring features to help maintain stable power for applications such as data centers, industrial automation, and communication infrastructure.

Online UPS Design for Stable Power Protection
The ES-SU series uses an online double-conversion UPS design. Double conversion means that incoming system AC power is first converted directly to DC and then back to AC, all before being delivered to the connected equipment. This process can help shield sensitive devices from common power issues, such as voltage swings, frequency changes, and system noise.
To handle unstable power conditions, the systems support a wide input voltage range from 110 V to 300 VAC, allowing them to keep operating even when the incoming grid power fluctuates. The units can also work alongside fuel generators, making them useful in facilities that rely on backup power systems, such as industrial sites, data centers, and remote infrastructure installations.

These systems provide an input power factor of at least 0.99 and input current harmonic distortion of 5% or less, improving efficiency and reducing strain on upstream electrical infrastructure. On the output side, the UPS delivers a pure sine-wave output with a power factor of 1, ensuring compatibility with sensitive equipment such as servers, networking hardware, medical systems, and industrial control platforms.
System Monitoring and Control Features
The ES-SU series also includes several features designed to simplify monitoring and system integration. A built-in LCD display provides key operating information, such as system status, input and output parameters, and battery conditions. This allows operators to quickly evaluate UPS performance during normal operation.

The ES-SU1K/3K series' communication capabilities are integrated via USB and RS-232 interfaces to connect to external monitoring systems or management software. It can allow administrators to track system status remotely and integrate the UPS into broader facility management or automation platforms.
These uninterruptible power supplies will also include operational features, such as an emergency power-off function that allows operators to immediately shut down the UPS output during a safety incident. An intelligent charging system with adjustable charging current handles battery management, helping to extend battery life while maintaining reliable backup performance.
Flexible Configurations for Different Applications
Mean Well’s ES-SU1K and ES-SU3K UPS models will be available in both tower and rack-mount versions, making them easier to integrate into different system layouts. This will allow installing the power supplies in standard equipment racks, control cabinets, or even standalone remote setups, depending on the facility’s needs.

The systems are intended for environments where consistent power is critical, which includes data centers, financial systems, smart building infrastructure, and industrial automation. In these types of applications, even brief power disturbances can interrupt operations or damage equipment, making reliable UPS protection an important part of the overall power system.
Mean Well’s ES-SU1K and ES-SU3K online UPS systems can deliver reliable 1 kW to 3 kW backup power. Features such as wide input voltage range, generator compatibility, and integrated monitoring interfaces help ensure stable operation for sensitive electronic equipment.
