IdaTech Launches FPM 20 Fuel Processor Module

September 03, 2002 by Jeff Shepard

IdaTech Corp. (Bend, OR) announced its new FPM 20 fuel processor module, which incorporates a steam reformer and the company's patented, two-stage purification process into a compact package. The new processor is designed for simple integration into fuel cell systems or for use as a stand-alone hydrogen generator producing high-purity hydrogen.

The FPM 20 is built on a scalable platform, which enables it to produce enough hydrogen to power fuel cell modules with outputs ranging from 2kW to 6kW. Utilizing IdaTech's patented purification technology, the FPM 20 is capable of reforming methanol/water fuel into greater than 99.9 percent pure hydrogen on demand, with fuel efficiencies of up to 80 percent, and less than one part per million carbon monoxide. The fuel processors are also capable of operating as stand-alone hydrogen generators, requiring no grid connection, unlike hydrogen generators using electrolysis technology.
