Catalyst Semi Digitally Programmable Potentiometer Now Available in 2 x 2.5mm TDFN Package
Catalyst Semiconductor, Inc. announced the availability of its CAT5114 Digitally Programmable Potentiometer™ in an 8-lead 2 x 2.5mm TDFN package, making it what the company claims is the world’s smallest non-volatile digital potentiometer. This tiny form factor is said to help designers further compress board space in today’s ever-shrinking portable products which currently use digital potentiometers in larger packages.
The CAT511 4 in 2 x 2.5mm TDFN can also be used to replace mechanical potentiometers and trimpots in applications including LCD screen adjustment; tamper-proof product calibration; contrast, brightness and volume control; gain adjustment; motor control and feedback systems. The CAT5114 offers 10 and 100kΩ end-to-end resistance values and a wide supply voltage range (2.5 to 6V).
The tiny CAT5114 is a 32-tap digital potentiometer featuring a user-friendly up/down control interface and non-volatile memory, which retains the wiper setting on system power-down and reinstates the setting when power is returned. The wiper can be adjusted to test new system values without affecting the stored setting.
The CAT5114 digitally programmable potentiometer in 2 x 2.5mm, 8-lead TDFN packaging is priced at $0.75 each in 10,000 piece quantities. Samples are available now. Projected lead-time for production quantities is currently 6 to 8 weeks ARO.
