Green Mountain Energy Expands in Texas

April 01, 2002 by Jeff Shepard

Green Mountain Energy Co. (Austin, TX) announced that it is expanding wind farm electricity operations in Texas. The company will offer customers in the Central Power and Light service territory the opportunity to sign up for electricity generated from 100-percent pollution-free wind power.

“We are excited about offering Central Power and Light customers a simple way to purchase pollution-free electricity and help clean the air we breathe," said Gillan Taddune, president of the Texas region for Green Mountain Energy. “As customers flip the switch on their lights, we hope they will consider that making electricity is the dirtiest industry in America in terms of air pollution. The Texas electric-choice program gives people the opportunity to buy electricity that is 100-percent clean and pollution-free.”
