Fuel Cell Technologies Corp. (FCT, Kingston, ON) reported that its operating subsidiary, Fuel Cell Technologies Ltd., shipped its first 5kW solid-oxide fuel cell (SOFC) for RWE. The company's 5kW SOFC unit successfully passed its factory acceptance test and was shipped to Germany for eventual installation at the Fuel Cell Pavilion at the Meteorit Park site in Essen owned by RWE. The unit will initially be evaluated at RWE's research centre at Mechernich.

"This is a landmark moment for FCT," said John Stannard, FCT president and chief executive officer. "We are pleased with how FCT has moved through product development to enter the demonstration phase for the 5kW SOFC unit."
