BatteryCorp Expands Executive Team, Adds 4 Positions

February 01, 2006 by Jeff Shepard

BatteryCorp, the leading provider of management and monitoring solutions for telecommunications battery backup systems, has appointed four industry veterans to leadership and management positions to further the company's organizational development, increase sales, expand product development, improve deployment strategies and expand its customer base.

"These four seasoned industry veterans joining our team bring a wealth of experience in development, deployment, sales and engineering," said Steven Dworkin, chief executive officer of BatteryCorp. "We are changing the way the telecom industry operations teams manage backup power systems and we need an experienced team that can take charge of that change. These four new team members will serve as anchors to the company's executive and management team, leading and supporting strong growth."

To increase its customer base, BatteryCorp appointed Joe Cappelletti as executive vice president. In this role, Cappelletti is responsible for increasing sales in the core wireless space and leading the development of new initiatives such as Fiber to the Premises (FTTP). Cappelletti has more than 25 years of experience in the technology field and was president of ADI, a subsidiary of Honeywell International.

To oversee BatteryCorp operations management and process improvement, Dick Scott has been appointed vice president of operations. He will be responsible for all aspects of BatteryCorp operations including cross-functional process standardization, new business infrastructure, resource development, supply chain

management, and support to field services. Most recently as vice president/general manager at General Dynamics, Scott established the Wireless Services group as a competitor in turnkey network deployment providing services to the wireless carriers, OEMs, tower companies and the public safety community.

And to strengthen its efforts in battery engineering and field operations, the company appointed Michael Sirard as director of sales engineering. Sirard will be responsible for product applications, battery development and key account technical sales. In addition, Tim Hauer has been recruited for Eastern field operations manager. Hauer will be responsible for key account technical sales, as well as field engineering support for the Eastern region.

BatteryCorp offers complete battery lifecycle management — from forecasting to replacement — to companies with large deployments of stationary batteries, including wireless telecom, wireline telecom, datacenter, uninterruptible power supply, and community access television, Dworkin said. Additionally, BatteryCorp provides a full line of batteries, installation and testing services, online reporting and analysis, and recycling services.
