Zetex Debuts ZXCT1020 Series Current Monitor ICs

October 01, 2003 by Jeff Shepard

Zetex plc (Chadderton, Oldham) debuted its ZXCT1020 Series current monitor IC, which ensures an accuracy of ±2% for a sense voltage of just 10mV. Providing enhanced measurement tolerance for the small value sense resistors required at higher currents, the ZXCT1021 and ZXCT1022 offer fixed-dc voltage gains of 10 and 100, respectively.

By translating the voltage sensed across a shunt resistor into a proportional output voltage, these precision high-side, current-sense monitors eliminate any disruption of the ground plane when sensing load current. The ZXCT1021/22 current monitors also remove the need for an external scaling resistor on the output. Operating over a broad input voltage range from 2.5V to 20V, the ZXCT1020 Series will support a broad range of high-current applications where minimal sense voltage is required. The devices’ typical operating current of 25µA and small footprint SOT23-5 packaging will also suit portable battery-powered equipment.
