Xicor Intros X80000/01 Power Management Solutions

Xicor Inc. (Milpitas, CA) introduced the X80000 and X80001 smart power management products, which integrate power sequencing and hot-swap functions with an SMBus interface to enable intelligent power supply control in multi-card -48V backplane applications.

The hot-swap features allow for insertion and extraction of line cards, network interface cards and other peripherals while -48V of power is present on the backplane. Power supply sequencing allows for systematic on/off control of dc/dc converters on the line cards or other devices. Through the use of the SMBus, intelligent interfaces allow for modular power distribution designs by reporting voltage, current and manufacturing identification to a control card that can manage power distribution, timing and voltage supplies. The X80000 and X80001 can sequence and control up to five independent dc/dc converters.
