Vishay Unveils New FC Series Chip Resistors

September 21, 2004 by Jeff Shepard

Vishay Intertechnology Inc. (Malvern, PA) announced its new FC Series of high-frequency chip resistors, which avoid roll-off even at frequencies over 100 MHz, and are available in a range of standard case sizes, including the compact 0402. The new chip resistors are intended for use in low-noise amplifiers, precision voltage dividers, attenuation circuitry, and line termination applications in fixed telecom and military/aerospace systems requiring fast-response, high-frequency circuitry.

Designed with low internal reactance, as represented by the capacitance and inductance of the terminations and substrate, the new FC resistor chips function over a high frequency range. A special laser edge-trimming process allows for precision tolerances down to 0.1%, and the resistors offer low TCR values down to ±25 ppm/°C. Available in small standard formats, including 1206, 1005, 0805, 0603, 0505, and 0402, the FC Series eliminate the need for customizing high-frequency devices or for tuning circuits to the appropriate frequency.

All devices are rated for stability of 500 ppm/°C over 2,000 hours at +70 °C and for an operating temperature range of -55 °C to +125 °C. Samples and production quantities are available now, with a lead time of eight weeks for larger orders. Pricing for US delivery is $0.70 in 1,000-piece quantities.
