New Products Nov 19, 2002 by Jeff Shepard

UNIPOWER Telecom, a division of UNIPOWER Corp. (Coral Springs, FL) introduced its new Ranger RRP Series of hot-swap rectifier modules, which produce 25A at 54.4Vdc (48V version) or 50A at 27.2Vdc (24V version). In a three-unit, 19in shelf the rectifiers produce 75A or 150A, respectively; in a four-unit, 23in shelf the rectifiers produce 100A or 200A, respectively. The complete power system is only 2RU high (3.5in).

The rectifier modules feature a wide 85Vac to 264Vac universal input range, input power-factor correction, automatic load sharing between modules and integral output OR-ing diodes for hot-swapping. The output can be adjusted over a 45V to 58V or 22.5V to 29V range by means of a front-panel, voltage-adjustment potentiometer, or by a remote dc input-control signal from a controller. Other features include a Class B EMI input filter, 87 percent efficiency, output over-voltage and current-limiting protection, and front-panel LED status indicators.

System monitoring and control functions include ac good, dc good, thermal alarm, remote enable, remote adjust and sensing. The rectifiers meet UL, CSA and EN safety standards and are CE marked. The RRP Series rectifier modules are priced at $745 each. The companion 19in shelf, the RRS2U-19, is priced at $475; and the 23in shelf, the RRS2U-23, is priced at $510. Delivery is two weeks ARO.
