TDK Electronics Intros VLF5014 SMT Power Inductors

TDK Electronics Europe GmbH (Duesseldorf, Germany) introduced three new surface-mount (SMT) power inductors that are suitable for dc-dc converter usage in mobile applications. The new line, spearheaded by the VLF5014, provides a substantial size reduction while offering higher current handling. It has a mount area of 4.5 mm x 4.7 mm, with a maximum height of 1.4 mm. When combined with the functionality of higher current handling, the product is suited to power LED flash driver circuits, for use as flashlights in mobile handsets.

The VLF5014 is applicable to the LED flash dc-dc converter for the higher power LEDs of 1.2 A or greater. The VLF4014 and VLF3014 have a mount area of 3.5 mm x 3.7 mm and 2.6 mm x 2.8 mm, respectively. Both have a height of 1.4 mm. All inductors benefit from high magnetic shield construction, actualizing high resolution for EMC protection. The new range of VLF power inductors offer a generic use for portable dc-dc converters in addition to application support for products, including DVCs, DSCs, PDAs, HDDs, cellular handsets, and LCDs. The new inductors are fully RoHS-compliant.
