Smaller Size, Same Performance as Conventional Electrolytics

April 04, 2016 by Jeff Shepard

Panasonic has introduced the FKS Series of aluminum electrolytic capacitor technology. The FKS Series is a revolution in size and performance. Using advanced foil technology, this series contributes to the downsizing of PCB designs by delivering the same performance of legacy capacitors in one case size smaller of a package compared with previous-generation FK-series capacitors. The AEC-Q200 qualification of the FKS Series ensures that these capacitors are meeting to most stringent quality standards in the industry.

The operating temperature range is -55 to 105 degrees C, and they are rated for 2000 hours of operation at 105 degrees C. FKS capacitors are available in capacitance values from 39- to 1800-microFarads and voltage ratings from 6.3- to 50-Vdc

If required, Panasonic is also able to provide a vibration-proof variant for all parts with a diameter of 8mm or greater. This vibration-proof variant can withstand shocks up to 30G (standard parts can withstand 10G maximum). These RoHS-compliant capacitors are designed for use in dc-dc converters, inverters, and rectifier circuits.
