New Products Apr 06, 2004 by Jeff Shepard

Sipex Corp. (Milpitas, CA), a provider of high-performance, analog integrated circuits, introduced its SP6132HV, high-voltage, synchronous step-down, pulse-width modulated (PWM) controller. Capable of handling input voltages up to 28 V, the SP6132HV is a suitable for stepping down dc input voltages ranging from 3.3 V to 28 V in automotive, mobile phone base stations, trains, marine equipment and 24 V industrial systems. Additional voltage-handling capability has been added to the top-side driver for enhancing the n-channel MOSFET gate up to 33 V.

The SP6132HV utilizes a PWM architecture that drives dual NFET switches with efficiencies as high as 94 percent. The device features a programmable output-voltage range down to 0.8 V, and maintains 1.5-percent accuracy over a wide range of input line, output load and temperature conditions. Internal 2 A gate drivers provide load current capability as high as 30 A.

The SP6132HV is available over the industrial -40 °C to +85 °C temperature range in a space-saving MSOP package. Pricing for the SP6132HV begins at $2.40 in 1,000-piece quantities. Samples and evaluation boards are also available to assist in the evaluation of the devices.
