Raytheon Intros PowerEdge Line of Power Amplifiers

New Products Dec 26, 2001 by Jeff Shepard

Raytheon Co.’s (Andover, MA) RF Components Division announced a line of GaAs HBT power amplifiers that use proprietary power management technology to increase the amount of battery charge time by up to 20 percent. The new technology, called PowerEdge, reduces power consumption by automatically adjusting amplifier bias in accordance with signal requirements to increase the overall power efficiency while maintaining linearity across the operating range.

Comprising the new line are models targeting markets in Asia and North America, including the RMPA0951-102 for domestic cellular CDMA applications, the RMPA2051-102 for domestic wideband and conventional CDMA, and the RMPA1751-102 and RMPA1951-102 for PCS/wireless local loop applications in Korea. The amplifier is enclosed in a compact LCC package, measuring 6mm x 6mm x 1.5mm (cubic), to help conserve handset space.
