Broadband TelCom Power Inc., formerly BTCPower Electronics Corp. (Costa Mesa, CA), recently introduced the QMT-100, a quarter-brick dc/dc power converter with a 30-amp current capacity. According to the company, the QMT-100 Series converters weigh 75 grams and have dimensions of 1.45 x 2.28 x 0.50. Output levels for the series include 2.5, 3.3, 5 and 12V with power levels of 100W. Other features of the QMT-100 include under-voltage lockout, output over-voltage and output over-current protection, output trimming, output over-temperature as short circuit protection and remote sensing. The device also features four 6mm cores which enable the 30-amp current density. The company claims the converters exceed Mil Std 217 E specifications (700,000 hours) with a calculated MTBF in the tens of millions of hours. The converters are also UL, CSA, TUV and CE approved. In quantities of 500, the suggested retail price for the QMT-100 quarter-bricks is approximately $75 each.
