New Products Jul 24, 2003 by Jeff Shepard

Power-One Inc. (Camarillo, CA) introduced the new FXC7000-48, a chassis-mount, ac/dc front-end power supply designed for distributed power architectures, which provides 7,000W of 48Vdc from bus-bar output connectors. The FXC7000-48 operates from all common three-phase input voltages from 200Vac to 480Vac, significantly reducing the number of front-end part numbers that have to be stocked by OEMs.

The 5in x 8in x 15.17in (12.7cm x 20.32cm x 38.53cm) package can be mounted in either 3U- or 5U-high configurations, and provides over 11.5W/in³ (0.7W/cm³). Additional features include a 45.6Vdc to 50.4Vdc output adjustment range, extensive input-transient protection, single wire or droop current-share, remote voltage adjust, and remote current monitoring. Up to 30 units can be paralleled to provide up to 210,000W. Protection features include over-voltage, over-current, over-temperature, and loss of phase warning. Agency approvals include UL60950/CSA 22.2 No. 60950-00, and EN60950 (TUV).

Single-piece pricing for the FXC7000-48 is $3,563 each. Evaluation units are usually available in six to eight weeks. Production quantities are typically available in 8 to 10 weeks.
