Power-One Debuts QME Series Quarter-Brick Converters
Power-One Inc. (Camarillo, CA) debuted its new 40 A QME48 Series of quarter-brick dc-dc converters. Comprised of models offering a full range of outputs from 1.0 Vdc to 3.3 Vdc, the QME48 Series provides a 13.9 million hour mean time between failure, competitive pricing, and immediate RoHS-compliant product availability. The QME48 products are suitable power sources for communications and server applications.
At temperatures up to 70 °C, the QME48 Series delivers 37 A, with 300 LFM of cooling, which is achieved through the use of patent-pending circuit, packaging, and processing technologies. Since heatsinks are not required, the QME48 Series maintains its 10.8 mm profile, minimizing airflow shadowing to enhance cooling for downstream devices.
Additional features include a 36 Vdc to 75 Vdc input range, 2,000 V input-to-output isolation, basic insulation, an onboard input differential LC-filter, no minimum-load requirement, remote on/off, a 100 V input transient withstand for 100 msec, startup into pre-biased loads, remote sense, output-voltage trim, and an industry-standard footprint of 1.45 in x 2.30 in (36.83 mm x 58.42 mm). Protection features include output over-current, input under-voltage lockout, and input over-voltage shutdown. Regulatory agency approvals include UL60950 and its design meets Class B conducted emissions per FCC and EN55022 when used with an external filter.
Pricing for the QME48 Series is $48 each in quantities of 1,000 pieces. Evaluation units are usually available from stock. Production quantities are available in six to eight weeks.
