NEC Electronics Adds Power Management Devices

NEC Electronics America Inc. (Japan) announced that it has expanded its semiconductor offerings in the Americas to include a line of power management devices (PMDs), including low-voltage power MOSFETs, noise-clipping and electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection diodes, and low-dropout (LDO) voltage regulators that will strengthen the company's position as a provider of complete system-level semiconductor solutions for a wide variety of target markets.

The power MOSFETs serve as switching devices with low current leakage to provide efficient power management in high-frequency power supplies and motor control systems. The noise-clipping and ESD protection diodes protect high-speed system data from being degraded due to electromagnetic noise, and other chips in the system from being damaged due to static electricity. The LDO voltage regulators maintain a stable supply of power in systems receiving unstable or un-rectified direct current, thus protecting valuable electronic circuitry in the system.

Initially, NEC Electronics America will target the PMDs to automotive, mobile, PC peripheral, and high-speed interface applications, and then eventually to applications for communications devices, electronic appliances, and uninterruptible power supplies.

All devices in the three PMD lines are now available in production quantities.
