Midwest Motion Offers MMP25A-12 Motor Speed Controls

April 19, 2005 by Jeff Shepard

Midwest Motion Products Co. (Watertown, MN) offered its new MMP25A-12 12 Vdc motor speed controls, which offer a wide range of operation from 10 Vdc to 20 Vdc, and a new internal 3,300 µF electrolytic filter capacitor for good ac ripple control. The new design, a solid-state PWM, uni-directional dc motor speed control, is well suited for any battery-powered or other dc-power-sourced applications that require adjustable speed of a dc motor or gear motor.

Able to deliver up to 25 A of current at a nominal 12 Vdc, the compact (1 in x 2 in x 4 in) control delivers the current required to power most brushed dc motors, by delivering up to 500 W of output power. The design is fully encapsulated (potted) enabling it to meet the IP-65 standard rating for resistance to the elements and harsh environments. The outer casing is brushed aluminum, and two 6.35 mm diameter through-holes are provided for easy mounting to any flat (heatsinking) surface. A set of 7 in quick-connect terminals are provided for connecting to power, motor leads and a potentiometer, one of which is provided with each unit.

The company offers a variety of standard companion equipment to accompany the MMP25A-12 drives, including dc power supplies, dc servo motors and gear-motors, complete with integrally mounted optical encoders, fail-safe brakes, analog tachometers, and a line of cost-effective ac or dc linear actuators.
