Martek Power’s New Ultra Low Noise DC-DC Converters

March 07, 2006 by Jeff Shepard

Martek Power announced the release of the LNB series, a new product family of high density, ultra low noise, fully isolated dc-dc converters. The LNB series offers output ripple of 10mV peak-to-peak and operate over input voltage ranges of 4.5 to 7 Vdc, 8 to 16 Vdc and 18 to 36 Vdc, making them well suited for embedded signal processing applications.

Packaged in industry standard size of 1.0" X 2.0" X 0.4", the low profile dc-dc LNBs feature a rated power of 10W and precisely regulated single output voltages of 3.3V, 5V, 12V and 24V. Efficiency is over 85 percent.

The LNB series feature 6-sided continuous shielding, output overvoltage protection, short circuit protection, synchronization, a wide -30oC to +100oC case operating temperature range, and 1500 Vdc input/output isolation. The meantime between failures is rated at 1,000,000 hours.

These are intended for use in for medical equipment, mobile battery driven equipment, mixed analog/digital subsystems and process/machine control equipment. According to Martek, the majority of power supply vendors are discontinuing 5Vdc and 12Vdc input dc-dc converters, and the LNB, with its industry standard footprint, provides a drop in replacement.

The LNB series are priced at $30.00 per unit for volume orders. Lead-time is stock to 8 weeks ARO.
