Martek Power Releases CB Series DC/DC Converters

Martek Power Abbott (Los Angeles, CA) released the CB Series, a new line of PCB-mountable dc/dc converters. The company claims that the converters are high-reliability, off-the-shelf, 28Vdc converters, which provide fully specified performance over an operating case temperature range of -55 degrees to 100 degrees C. They are intended for industrial, military and aerospace applications.

The CB5, first in the series, is a 5W single-output device, requiring a square-inch output and featuring a 0.38 profile allowing for high-density card spacing. With a 16Vdc to 40Vdc input range, the CB Series provides outputs of 2.0Vdc, 3.3Vdc, 5.0Vdc, 5.2Vdc, 12Vdc and 15Vdc with efficiencies of 80 percent and better. The CB10 is a 10W dual-output converter providing two independent output channels, making it suitable for low-power applications such as mixed-logic systems. The standard features include remote on/off logic with over-voltage and short-circuit protection.

"The CB5 and CB10 are the first in a new series of high-density, low-cost dc/dc converters intended for high-reliability applications," explained Al Trendcosta, sales and marketing manager for Martek Power's military division. "Using advanced techniques, we have developed products that set new levels for performance and price. The 10W dual-output model will be very welcome for mixed-logic systems where 2.0Vdc and 3.3Vdc logic will be required on the same card."
