Low-Profile High Current Power Inductor

March 27, 2016 by Jeff Shepard

Sumida has developed a low-profile high current power inductor CDEP15D90/T150 for use in automotive LED headlights. Recently, headlights have been diversified and some of them are equipped with ADB (Adaptive Driving Beam) and AFS (Adaptive Front-lighting System) which requires a higher current more than ever. Complying with the automotive reliability criteria, AEC-Q200, this inductor is so strongly structured that its core and wire could withstand a voltage of up to 120Vdc.

These inductors are offered in standard designs and high-power designs. Typical ratings for the standard designs ranges from; inductance of 4.7uH ±20%, DCR of 3.5 mOhms ±20%, saturation currents of 17.0A at 20 degrees C and 11.8A at 150 degrees C for the CDEP15D90T150NP-4R7MC-125; to inductance of 22.0uH ±20%, DCR of 14.5 mOhms ±20%, saturation currents of 7.7A at 20 degrees C and 5.3A at 150 degrees C for the CDEP15D90T150NP-220MC-125

Ratings for the high-power series range from; inductance of 4.7uH ±20%, DCR of 4.9 mOhms ±20%, saturation currents of 19.2A at 20 degrees C and 13.3A at 150 degrees C for the CDEP15D90T150NP-4R7MC-100; to inductance of 22.0uH ±20%, DCR of 20.1 mOhms ±20%, saturation currents of 8.8A at 20 degrees C and 6.0A at 150 degrees C for the CDEP15D90T150NP-220MC-100

Key features include: Size of 16.0 x 16.0 x H10.0 mm (maximum), Product Weigh of: 7g (typical), Voltage rating of 120Vdc, Operating Temperature Range: -40 to +150 degrees C, Qualified AEC-Q200, and RoHS compliance. Applications are expected to include automotive ECUs, headlights, and so on.
