Lead-Free Tantalum Chips From AVX

AVX Corporation has met RoHS environmental requirements with a new low-profile TAJ "R" case size tantalum capacitor. Designed for applications with board-level height, design constraints, the TAJ "R" offers height options of 1.2, 1.5 and 2.0mm which equate to that of a standard integrated circuit packages after mounting. Applications include computer power supplies, disk drives, cellular phones and PCMCIA cards.

"Because of the critical RoHS environmental regulations for electronic components, we developed a lead-free version of the TAJ R tantalum capacitor to help customers meet the requirements of the legal definition for their end equipment," said Dan Lane AVX Marketing Manager. "The RoHS compliant TAJ R series provides high capacitance values in low profile case sizes that allow design engineers to reduce the size of their systems by downsizing components or reducing the components needed in a circuit."

High volumetric efficiency of the TAJ R tantalum capacitor material allows the chip to achieve high capacitance values in standard case sizes. Capacitance values range from 0.1µF to 22µF with a capacitance tolerance of ±10% to ±20%. This tantalum capacitor family has a temperature operation range -55°C to +125°C.

They are available on standard 7" or 13" reels in quantities of 500 to 10,000. Pricing is in the range of $0.21 each in volume.
