J. W. Miller Debuts PM12639S/PM12645S Series of Inductors
J.W. Miller (Gardena, CA) has debuted a new series of surface-mountable power inductors, called the PM12639S/PM12645S Series. The new inductors offer current ratings of 30A maximum for dc/dc converter output-choke applications. The inductors are claimed to work nicely with converter chip sets offered by other vendors. They are designed with magnetic shielding and feature low dc resistance and high saturation current.
Performance characteristics of the series include a standard inductance and dc current specification of 0.67 to 1.2 microhenries at 30A to 22A for the PM12639S, and 1.2 to 27.7 micohenries at 27A for the PM12645S. The PM12639S measures 3.9”, and the PM12645S measures 4.5”. Both series feature an operating temperature range of -40 to 150 degrees C. The modules are suitable for use in a variety of high-density applications including energy storage, dc output chokes, flyback inductors, light dimmers, differential-mode chokes and electromagnetic interference filters.
The PM12639S and PM12645S Series is available on a tape and reel of 800 pieces. Units carry a per-piece price of $1.42 each in lots of 800 pieces. Samples are currently available. Production quantities are available in four to six weeks.
