Intersil Intros ISL6144 OR-ing FET Controller IC

April 07, 2004 by Jeff Shepard

Intersil Corp. (Milpitas, CA) announced its Endura™ ISL6144 positive high-voltage OR-ing FET controller IC, which operates over a range of +10 V to +75 V. The new device is designed to replace lossy diodes in power distribution applications, thus greatly improving power efficiency, reducing heat and ensuring reliability.

Until now, a low-loss, high-efficiency, OR-ing solution for power distribution has not been available to the above 30 V telecom and datacom markets. With the introduction of the ISL6144, telecom and datacom designers can greatly improve power distribution efficiency by replacing the diodes with low-loss, n-channel MOSFETs. When multiplied by the number of supplies, the power savings is significant and greatly reduces system-threatening heat.

The ISL6144 is available now in a choice of QFN (ISL6144IR) or TSSOP (ISL6144IV) packages. Pricing in 100-unit to 999-unit quantities is $2.60 for each IC.
