Gresham Power Intros eF175-200 Series SMPS

March 08, 2004 by Jeff Shepard

Gresham Power (Salisbury, UK) announced its new eF175-200 Series of open-frame, dual-output, ultra-high power density, switch-mode power supplies, which is based on the recently introduced eF175-4xx family. The 175 W eF175-200 can produce 200 W of output power from the industry-standard 3.3 in x 5 in (84 mm x 127 mm) footprint. The eF175 is suitable for all industrial, telecom and IT applications.

Outputs for the eF175-200 may be factory-set between 1.5 Vdc to 56 Vdc; the ultra-high efficiency topology is a combination of a 100KHz fixed high-switching frequency and full synchronous rectification on the two outputs; and conversion losses are minimized by employing a single controller for the two outputs that allows up to 30 A to be drawn from the main output and 5 A from the auxiliary.

The eF175 features an input-voltage range from 85 Vac to 265 Vac, active power-factor correction to 0.98 at full load with either 110 V or 230 V inputs, 250 LFM airflow, and a mean time between failure of greater than 300,000 hours. Convection cooling will provide 100 W over the temperature range –5 °C to +50 °C, after which the unit will derate linearly at 2.5 percent/°C up to 70 °C. All models are CE marked and certified to EN-60950, UL1950 and EN55022 Class B for conducted emissions.
