Fairchild Semiconductor Offers SPT5240 Converter

November 09, 2003 by Jeff Shepard

Fairchild Semiconductor International (South Portland, ME) announced its new SPT5240, a high-frequency, 10-bit, digital-to-analog converter claiming over 80% lower power dissipation than comparable competitive devices. At a fast, 400MWPS update rate, the SPT5240 dissipates just 149mW (typical) at ƒCLK = 400MHz and 12mA output.

The SPT5240 is suitable for test equipment, medical diagnostic and imaging, portable communications, and other battery-operated equipment requiring high-speed data conversion. It is also well suited to applications including set top boxes, video displays and broadband RF. Additional benefits of the SPT5240 converter include an extended industrial temperature range of -40°C to +85°C, complementary current outputs, and an internal reference. The SPT5240 is available in a 32-lead LQFP package and operates from a 3.3V supply.

The SPT5240 is available now and is priced at 11.80 for 1,000-piece quantities. Delivery is eight weeks ARO.
