C&D Technologies Unveils NNL10 Series Converters

August 19, 2004 by Jeff Shepard

C&D Technologies Inc. (Tucson, AZ) expanded its family of non-isolated, point-of-load (POL) dc-dc converters with 16 new devices that offer full load current outputs of 10 A and high precision voltages ranging from 0.9 V to 3.3 V. Designed to address the voltage and current requirements of high-performance FPGAs, ASICs, DSPs and microprocessors, the new NNL10 Series of high-efficiency converters is suitable for applications ranging from servers to telecommunications equipment.

The NNL10 converters can operate with a voltage input range of 3 V to 5.5 V and are available with output voltages of 0.9 V, 1 V, 1.2 V, 1.5 V, 1.8 V, 2 V, 2.5 V and 3.3 V. Each variant is also offered with an optional "DC OK" single-wire connection, which simplifies output sequencing by indicating when the next converter in a daisy-chained sequence can be enabled. Output voltage trimming allows the voltage to be adjusted by ±10% of nominal by connection of a resistor or by applying a voltage to the converter’s trim pin. The NNL10 converters are rated for maximum line and load regulation of 1.0% and 0.55%, respectively, and offer a typical voltage set point accuracy of 1.0%. The operating temperature for the devices ranges from -40 °C to +85 °C. The new converters have a footprint of 33 mm x 13.5 mm x 8.3 mm.

Pricing for the new converters is under $8 per device in OEM quantities; less than $1 per amp.
