C&D Technologies Intros 4900 Series Inductors

June 25, 2003 by Jeff Shepard

C&D Technologies Inc. (Tucson, AZ) announced a new series of surface-mount, bobbin-format inductors, which offer a combination of enhanced design flexibility and EMI protection. The 4900 dual-winding, bobbin-format devices have a 1:1 winding ratio and can be connected either in series or parallel to create a wide range of inductance combinations.

Suitable for a variety of power-related applications, the 4900 devices are suitable for switched-mode power supplies where the secondary coil could be used as a feedback winding. Nominal inductance values for the inductors ranges from 2.2µH to 880µH (at 10kHz rms and 100mVac). The maximum continuous current that can be handled is 9.5A.

Designed for maximum efficiency in power applications, devices in the 4900 Series have low maximum dc resistance values that range from 0.0075O to 0.805O. All devices are housed in packages measuring 12mm x 12mm x 8mm high. An integral EMI shield is a standard feature, making the devices suitable for designs where minimizing electrical noise is an important factor. A wide operating temperature range of -40°C to +85°C further enhances the suitability of devices for use in a broad range of applications.

Available in a tape-and-reel format, inductors from the 4900 Series are fully compatible with high-volume automated manufacturing systems. Pricing for the inductors begins at $0.54 in OEM quantities.
