BI Technologies Offers HM65 Series Inductors

November 04, 2001 by Jeff Shepard

BI Technologies' (Fullerton, CA) Magnetic Components Division introduced a high-performance, low-profile, surface-mount inductor with a closed magnetic circuit design for high-density PC board assemblies. The HM65 Series inductors feature a ferrite core with low losses and exhibit current capabilities up to 20A. Designed for machine placement, the low-profile inductors are compatible with vapor phase and infrared reflow soldering.

"The closed magnetic circuit of our HM65 inductor is conducive to high-density board assembly, making it useful in applications requiring efficient use of limited board space, such as laptop computers," explained David Smolik, director of product development for BI Technologies' Magnetics Division. "Combining high-current capabilities and low dc resistance in a surface-mount package enables this inductor to maintain high performance in a range of demanding applications."

The HM65 Series inductors are suitable for applications in laptop and notebook computers, dc/dc converters in distributed power systems, and other high-current applications. The inductors feature inductance ratings from 1µH to 10µH and from 5A to 20A (inductance measured at 100kHz, 0.25V). The dc resistance ranges from 2.5m to 13.5m and the operating temperatures range from -25 to +135 degrees C.

Typical pricing for the HM65 Series inductors is less than $1.00 in quantities of 100,000, with lead times ranging from 8 to 10 weeks.
