BI Technologies Develops HM73 Series of Surface-Mount Inductors

June 06, 2001 by Jeff Shepard

BI Technologies (Fullerton, CA) has developed a molypermalloy powder-based (MPP) family of surface-mount inductors capable of handling up to 40A. Designated the HM73 Series, these self-shielding inductors are available in a surface-mount package with 16 standard ratings from 0.1µH to 8.2µH, and from 6A to 40A.

The HM73 Series of inductors features board-mounted profiles of 3.5mm x 5.5mm, with footprints as small as 8.5mm x 7.5mm. BI Technologies claims that their design, which uses ultra-thin rectangular wires, makes their conductor density more than 20 percent higher than that of round-core wires, as well as providing lower dc resistance and higher efficiency. The operating temperature range for the series is -40 to 125 degrees C.

Pricing for the HM73 Series is less than $1.00 each in volume quantities, with lead times of 12 to 14 weeks ARO. Samples are immediately available.
