Anuvu Announces Power-X Research Fuel Cells

August 12, 2003 by Jeff Shepard

Anuvu Inc. (Sacramento, CA) announced the first commercially available, industrial quality, 1.5kW fuel cells for educational institutions and research-based organizations. Anuvu will provide the same fuel cells it currently uses to power vehicles, boats and off-grid power generation for research and hands-on laboratory teaching applications.

Anuvu's Power-X™ 1.5kW fuel cells can now be used for bench testing, reliability testing, prototype development and in classrooms for educational learning programs. Anuvu's fuel cells are currently used in a number of automotive and marine vehicle applications, including the four-door sedan and light pickup versions of the Anuvu Clean Urban Vehicle, as well as a zero-emission harbor water taxi. The result of nearly 10 years of research and development, Anuvu's 1.5kW Power-X™ fuel cells are small, inexpensive and robust.

Anuvu's Power-X™ fuel cells are already being used by Kettering University (Flint, MI) and leading research facilities in Italy and Brazil. Kettering (formerly General Motors Institute) is using Anuvu's fuel cells for in-house research and teaching of educational seminars that instruct students on appropriate design considerations for fuel cells in transportation applications. In addition to workshops and seminars, Kettering's multi-year program includes plans to adapt the popular EV1 electric vehicle into a fuel cell battery, electric-hybrid, zero-emission vehicle.
