AEG Power Solutions Launches New Three-Phase String Inverters

June 12, 2011 by Jeff Shepard

AEG Power Solutions , a wholly owned subsidiary of 3W Power Holdings S.A., introduced its new solar inverter portfolio. Ranging from 10 to 15kVA, the new generation of three-phase string inverters provides high yields and easy installation.

The new three-phase string inverters are available at power outputs of 10, 12.5 and 15kVA. The transformer-less design yields a maximum efficiency rate of 98% and an EU efficiency rate exceeding 97% with a maximum input voltage of 1000V. Two MPP trackers are used in the 10kVA units and three in the 12.5 and 15kVA units; each tracker optimizes the inverter operating point for a 250-to-800V connected string.

Equipped with eight pre-installed languages and preset grid codes for 17 countries, the units can be used throughout most of Europe. They are designed with a broad range of functions to stabilize the grid including power level adjustment, controlled reactive power input and a fault-ride-through function.

"The high efficiency rate of 98% and the use of up to three MPP trackers with input voltage up to 1000 V ensure top yields, especially for rooftop installations with shading effects," said Udo Littmann, Business Director String Inverters of AEG Power Solutions. "."What is more, the units weigh a mere 35 kg, unrivaled in the industry."

The unique AEG PS "easy" option greatly simplifies installation and commissioning. The feature consists in an integrated web server for easy parameter setting and monitoring via a standard web browser on the connected PC. The PC communicates with only one string inverter to be selected and called the "master" which adjusts all settings for the entire installation. Automatically these settings are replicated to up to 99 further string inverters called "followers."
