September 11, 2002 by Jeff Shepard

Wartsila Corp. (Annapolis, MD), a global ship power supplier and a major provider of solutions for decentralized power generation, has entered into a cooperation agreement with global technology and catalyst company Haldor Topsoe A/S (Lyngby, Denmark) to start a joint development program within the area of fuel cell technology.

The development program aims to introduce clean and cost-competitive fuel cell products with power outputs above 200kW for distributed power generation and marine applications. Wartsila will apply its knowledge in decentralized power plant applications and marine propulsion systems. Topsoe will contribute its experience in catalyst development and planar solid-oxide fuel cell technology.
