Toyota Motor Corp. (Japan) announced that it will launch its Prius hybrid-powered car in Hong Kong on July 27, 2001, followed by autumn releases in Singapore and Australia.
The company plans to ship 200 Prius sedans for the Hong Kong market annually. It will export 100 cars a year to Singapore and 300 to Australia.
"After research and consultation with local distributors, we have selected places to release Prius as areas with strong public awareness of environmental issues," said Toyota's Executive Vice President Yoshio Ishizaka.
