Torex Reveals Products for Introduction in 2017

November 15, 2016 by Power Pulse1595211359

Last week at the electronica 2016 event, Torex Semiconductor revealed product introduction plans for the first part of 2017 that included: the XDL601/02 1.5A micro dc-dc converter with integrated coil approved to AEC-Q1—Grade 2, the XCL225/226 18V 500mA step-down micro dc-dc converter also with integrated coil, the XC9276 ultra-low power step down dc-dc converter with VSET function, and the XC6237, low quiescent current, high-speed LDO voltage regulator.

Packaged in a 2.5mm x 3.6mm x 1.5mm (DFN3625-11A) configuration with wettable flanks, the AEC-Q100 Grade 2 XDL601/02 can provide 1.5A over an output voltage range of 0.8Vdc to 3.6Vdc from an input of 2.5- to 5.5-Vdc. The XDL601 is a fixed-frequency converter while the more efficient XDL602 automatically switches between pwm and pfm operation. Both converters operate at 3MHz and have a quiescent current of 1.5 microamps. They are specified over an operating temperature range of -40 to +105 degrees C and include thermal shutdown, current limit and short-circuit protection. Additional features include soft-start, under-voltage lockout, CL discharge and 100% duty cycle capability.

The XCL225/26 series is a synchronous step-down micro dc-dc converter with integrated coil in a 3.0 x 3.0 x 1.6 mm DFN3030-10B package. A stable and efficient power supply circuit can be configured simply by adding two ceramic capacitors externally thereby minimizing the needed board space and reducing develop time. These converters operate from 3.0- to 18.0-Vdc and support loads up to 500mA. With a quiescent current of 12 microamps, these dc-dc converters automatically switch between pwm and pwm modes to deliver high efficiency even at low loads. Fold-back current limiting, adjustable soft-start and a power good output are standard features.

Offered in both a DFN2020-8 and WLP-6-03 packages, the XC9276 can support output currents of 50mA or 400mA with a quiescent current of only 0.5 microamps. These pfm controlled converters have an input voltage range of 1.8- to 6.0-Vdc and support output voltages from 0.6- to 3.6-Vdc (in 0.1-Vdc steps). Current limiting, inrush current limiting, short-circuit protection and under-voltage lockout are standard protection features. These converters are designed to use low ESR ceramic capacitors and have an operating temperature range of -40 to +85 degrees C.

Finally, the XC6237 LDO voltage regulator has a standby current of no more than 0.1 microamps and a quiescent current of 0.5 microamps. Designed for use with operating voltages of 1.6- to 6.0-Vdc these LDOs support 150mA loads with output voltages from 1.2- to 5.0-Vdc. To optimize efficiency, the XC6237 automatically switches to Power Save Mode for output currents under 8mA. The PSSR is 60kB at 1kHz. Packaged options include USPQ-4B0x, SOT-23 and SSOT-24. The operating temperature range is -40 to +105 degrees C and these converters include short-circuit protection, current limiting and optional CL discharge capability.
