Sulzer Hexis Reports HXS 1000 Premiere Operational Milestone

February 27, 2005 by Jeff Shepard

Fuel cell developer Sulzer Hexis Ltd. (Winterthur, Switzerland) reported that 100 installed fuel cell systems, its HXS 1000 Premiere, have exceeded one million operating hours under real-life conditions. Several units have been operating for more than 10,000 hours already. This is an important prerequisite for series production and market introduction and supports the selection of potential partners.

The systems have been placed in selected private homes throughout Europe. The general feedback from utilities and end users are positive with respect to reliability and function. In parallel, a new system generation called "Galileo" with improved performance data has been developed. The system is smaller, the manufacturing costs are 50% less, and it is easier to operate than the HXS 1000 Premiere predecessor.

Sulzer is currently in the process of selecting partners to participate entrepreneurially and financially in order to further develop Sulzer Hexis.
