General Semiconductor Inc. (Melville, NY) recently announced that Andrew M. Caggia, CFO, has resigned and that Robert J. Gange, vice president and controller, would serve as acting CFO until a replacement can be named.

"Andy made many valuable contributions to General Semiconductor, most notably playing a key role in establishing us as a stand-alone, publicly traded company in 1997 when General Instrument restructured," said Ronald A. Osterag, chairman and CEO of General Semiconductor. "We appreciate Andy's nearly 15 years of service to the company and wish him much success in the new professional challenge he has chosen to pursue."
