Plug Power Inc. (Latham, NY) recently announced that it has successfully run a PEM fuel cell for over 10,000 hours.
"Creating extremely reliable fuel cell systems has been our main focus at Plug Power, and this operating milestone brings us one step closer to that important goal," said Gary Mittleman, president and CEO of Plug Power. "Our customers expect to have a system that keeps running and running, and that's what we intend to deliver."
The company also announced the completion of 52 complete fuel cell systems. Of these systems, 37 have been built to run on natural gas and 15 to operate on simulated fuel. Some of the units will be running in Plug Power's test lab facilities, while others are being sent offsite for testing.
