MTI MicroFuel Cells Inc. (Albany, NY), a subsidiary of Mechanical Technology Inc., announced it has received an award of $200,000 from the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA). The NYSERDA award is part of a program to support projects designed to deliver energy, environmental and economic benefits to the citizens of New York State.
MTI MicroFuel Cells is developing micro fuel cell power systems as a future power supply for portable electronic devices, and has a targeted market entry date of 2004 for its first product. The award, MTI Micro's second development grant from NYSERDA, will be used to help advance the manufacturability of the company's systems.
