Microsemi Corp. (Irvine, CA) announced that it has been awarded Patent No. US6285571 for constructing an efficient multi-phase switching regulator and Patent No. US6292378 for programmable current sharing.
Both patents claim an efficient multi-phase switching regulator architecture that Microsemi calls LoadSHARE, which uses sensed voltages to achieve accurate forced current sharing and programmable current sharing. The architecture is used on a new family of products that Microsemi will be introducing in 2002 that aim to efficiently power video processors and portable notebook processors.
