Hydrogenics Supplying Fuel Cells for APCC's InfraStruXure

June 14, 2005 by Jeff Shepard

Hydrogenics Corp. (Toronto, Canada), a manufacturer of fuel cell technology, announced that it is supplying fuel cell power modules to American Power Conversion Corp. (APCC, West Kingston, RI) for its new InfraStruXure™ with integrated fuel cells system. In November 2004, Hydrogenics received an order for 25 HyPM™ XR fuel cell backup power modules from APCC. Hydrogenics has delivered the first five units of the order, and expects the remainder of the units to be delivered throughout 2005.

The 25 HyPM XR units will be used as part of APCC's InfraStruXure with integrated fuel cells product offering for uninterruptible power in data centers. The fuel-cell-powered "extended run" product is modular in design, matching the InfraStruXure product design architecture. The units are available immediately for purchase from APCC. A standard APCC 42U rack enclosure can house up to three fuel cell modules, or 30 kW (3 x 10 kW).

"We are thrilled to work with APCC in its new InfraStruXure with integrated fuel cells system. This innovative offering integrates Hydrogenics' fuel cell power modules in critical power applications that require reliable, extended run capabilities," said Hydrogenics President and CEO Pierre Rivard.
