May 14, 2002 by Jeff Shepard

Honda Motor Co. (Japan) and Plug Power Inc. (Latham, NY) announced that they will collaborate on research into home-based hydrogen/fuel cell vehicle refueling stations. The refueling stations will provide heat, hot water and electricity to a home while also producing hydrogen for a fuel cell vehicle. The stations will be fueled with natural gas.

Research will be carried out at Plug Power's headquarters and at various Honda locations. As part of the agreement, Honda also plans to buy two stationary fuel cell generation systems from Plug Power.
