FCT Announces AQMD Fuel Cell Award

May 05, 2002 by Jeff Shepard

Fuel Cell Technologies Corp. (FCT, Kingston, ON) announced that it was chosen by California's South Coast Air Quality Management District (AQMD) in an international competition to supply fuel cell power systems to the first California clean air demonstration of fuel cells for homes. The 10 FCT fuel cell systems will power 10 Southern California homes, providing each with 5kW of electricity and heat for hot-water requirements.

"Fuel Cell Technologies is pleased that the AQMD's governing board chose our company to carry out this innovative and important demonstration project. The solid-oxide fuel cell is ideally suited to stationary applications and easily accommodates existing, neighborhood fuel-delivery infrastructures," said John Stannard, president and CEO of FCT.
