June 27, 2004 by Jeff Shepard

Electrotek Concepts (Edison, NJ), an engineering consulting firm specializing in power quality, announced that Thomas Grebe, has been elected Secretary of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Transmission and Distribution Committee. Grebe, a senior consultant with Electrotek, will begin his two-year term in January 2005.

The IEEE Committee oversees all matters related to the design, theoretical and experimental performance, installation and service operation of parts of electric power systems that serve to transmit electric energy between the generating sources and substations through ac or dc lines to the service areas. At Electrotek, Tom serves as a consultant and project manager in support of power system and power quality analysis, with special emphasis on utility capacitor applications. He has developed and maintains a number of power-system-related websites for IEEE and other professional organizations.
