CTO Power Summit Announced by Darnell Group

December 15, 2009 by Jeff Shepard

Darnell Group has announced the first-annual CTO Power Summit to be hosted in San Diego, California in February 2010. Darnell’s Global CTO Power Summit is not a tradeshow or similar broad-based event open to everyone and anyone. Instead, it’s an exclusive, invitation-only meeting where CTOs and similar senior technical/engineering executives including Vice Presidents of Research and Development, Vice Presidents of Engineering, Directors of Advanced Technology, and so on, go to broaden their perspectives and share knowledge with their peers in a relaxed setting.

"The program at Darnell’s CTO Power Summit will be designed by a program committee consisting of CTOs from major power converter makers around the world," stated Jeff Shepard, President of Darnell Group. "Sponsor-underwriters of this event will have unparalleled access to CTOs from the top power conversion companies in the world. Without sponsoring Darnell’s CTO Power Summit, it would be nearly impossible to meet this influential group even given a year of travel."

Darnell’s CTO Power Summit will provide CTOs and technology and engineering executives at global power converter companies (including ac-dc power supplies, dc-dc converter modules, inverters, lighting ballasts, motor drives and uninterruptible power supplies) with a relaxed atmosphere to network with colleagues, learn new solutions from their peers both inside and outside the power electronics industry, hear the latest application and market trends, and leave with high-impact knowledge take-aways. Among the topics at this unique global event will be:

– Monitoring and accessing new technologies

– Leadership for strategic innovation

– Technology assessment of potential mergers and acquisitions

– Translating product details into terms that can be marketed

– Representing company interests to government, academic and industry organizations.

Keeping up with the latest technology trends and getting advanced information for next-generation trends is important, but it is only a part of what CTOs will receive at Darnell’s CTO Power Summit. The industry continues to move at a faster and faster pace. Customers are demanding solutions to today’s problems for today’s designs. It is the CTO’s task to have a clear view of technology trends and market needs beyond today’s demands. A clear vision of medium- and longer-term market demand trends is critical. It enables CTOs to identify opportunities for enhancing product differentiation and keeping up with changing market conditions. Complementing the improved margins enabled by enhanced product differentiation is the drive for reduced product development costs and product manufacturing cost reductions. Darnell’s CTO Power Summit will address this diverse set of demands and provide the tools CTOs need to drive success into the future.

Darnell believes that the chief technology officers at power electronics companies need, more than ever, a venue for off-record discussions, latest solutions, and projections of future opportunities. The purpose is to provide a forum for CTOs to speak candidly with technology and business leaders about the realities of the industry. And that is long overdue!
