CFCL Opens New Fuel Cell Engineering Facility

September 04, 2001 by Jeff Shepard

Ceramic Fuel Cells Ltd. (CFCL, Australia) has opened a new 35,000sqft engineering facility, bringing the company another step closer to market. The new building will be used to assemble prototypes and to carry out tests on the company's market-entry product, a 40kW fuel-cell-based electricity generator. The first prototype should be completed by June next year.

"This new facility can accommodate up to 56 personnel, in addition to providing essential testing facilities for balance of plant components and control systems to advance toward complete system prototypes," said Managing Director Dr. Bruce Godfrey. "It allows us to further focus our efforts on delivering a cost-effective distributed-generation product."

The new facility is conveniently located within a short walk of CFCL's Melbourne headquarters. As part of this expansion, the company will also increase its cell and stack capabilities in the existing buildings.
