BP Solarex Incorporates Its Solar Technology into New Corporate Headquarters

March 13, 2000 by Jeff Shepard

BP Solarex (Baltimore, MD) announced it has incorporated its own solar technology and energy-efficient features into its new corporate headquarters. The new office building features a 23kW solar array using 540 of BP Solarex's Millenia thin-film solar modules. Electricity from the solar modules are used to power everything in the building except the HVAC and lighting units. If the power supply to the building should fail, all equipment will switch to a UPS that is powered by batteries that are charged by the solar array.
