February 03, 2003 by Jeff Shepard

AMI Semiconductor (AMIS, Pocatello, ID) announced that the AMIS manufacturing facility in Oudenaarde, Belgium, has achieved ISO 14001 certification. The ISO 14001 standard specifies a framework for an environmental management system. The company's manufacturing facility in Idaho is targeted for certification later in 2003.

"Receiving the ISO 14001 certification is very important to AMIS," said Johan Heyman, vice president of European operations at AMIS. "It shows the community and our customers that we are mindful of our environmental responsibilities. Through strong technical ability and innovation we have gone beyond legislative requirements and implemented a number of changes to our processes and methodology that make significant improvements from an environmental viewpoint."
